RE

At Monks Abbey we strive to ensure all our children grow steadily in skills and knowledge and leave us literate, numerate and emotionally and socially well- adjusted young people, overcoming disadvantage where it exists.

At Monks Abbey Primary School we strive to equip the children with the knowledge, experiences and skills needed to understand people from different backgrounds and religions and interact confidently with others that have different perspectives. We aim to ensure they are respectful and curious about the world around them and through our RE lessons we aim for our children to be able to hold balanced and informed conversations about religion, practices and beliefs.  Religious Education at MAPS plays an important part in developing children’s spiritual, moral and cultural development and gives time for self- reflection. It helps the children make sense of world views and their own views. Our lessons help to develop positive attitudes about themselves and others and helps develop their own identity and sense of belonging.

At Monks Abbey we are privileged to have children from a variety of nationalities, religions and backgrounds. Diversity is celebrated and children are encouraged to share their varied beliefs, views and experiences which we believe enriches their learning and understanding.

We understand how important RE is for all our children both during and after leaving Monks Abbey in order for them to become socially and emotionally well-adjusted young people. Pupils who are respectful, tolerant and empathetic towards others, ready to go forward and succeed in life.
