Pupil Premium

Everyone is welcome!

At Monks Abbey Primary School, Everyone is Welcome. We are committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential, regardless of their background or circumstances.

We provide high-quality, inclusive classroom teaching for all pupils, supported by targeted interventions and additional opportunities where needed. Our Pupil Premium Strategy focuses on identifying and removing barriers to learning, improving attendance, raising attainment and ensuring that all children can participate fully in school life.

Pupil Premium and Free School Meals

Free School Meals eligibility has been expanded to support more families. There are now two categories of Free School Meals:

  • Targeted Free School Meals: For children whose families meet the government's eligibility criteria, including certain benefits. These pupils may also attract Pupil Premium funding.

  • Expanded Free School Meals: For additional children who qualify under the expanded eligibility arrangements. This provides access to free school meals but does not automatically qualify a pupil for Pupil Premium funding.

Pupil Premium funding continues to support eligible disadvantaged pupils, including those who have qualified for benefits-related Free School Meals at any point during the previous six years (known as Ever 6).

We encourage all eligible parents and carers to apply for Free School Meals, even if their child already receives a free meal through other arrangements. This helps ensure families receive the support they are entitled to and that the school receives the appropriate funding.

How We Use Pupil Premium Funding

Our Pupil Premium funding is used strategically to improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged pupils. Support is based on identified needs rather than eligibility alone, recognising that children may experience different or overlapping barriers to learning.

The School Leadership Team and Governing Body regularly monitor how funding is spent and evaluate its impact on pupils' attainment, attendance, wellbeing and access to wider opportunities.
